Canyon Creek Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Newsletter Spring 2019

To ensure all residents continue to have access to the amenities, the Board of Directors has elected to run registration renewal for the 2019 season. Renewals are performed in an effort to ensure the amenity access is only granted to those residents who meet the criteria set forth by the governing documents and the Board of Directors. All residents, tenants included, will be required to register their pool card(s). To complete registration, you must complete the pool access waiver and provide Spectrum with the serial numbers listed on the pool card(s) you wish to register. Options for how to register are provided in this posting.

The results of the traffic survey we conducted recently are presented here, along with some actions we are taking to calm traffic going forward. Thank you to the residents who participated.

Prepare to stop for pedestrians crossing the street!

Many folks in our community would like to update their sidewalk strip for easy maintenance and to improve aesthetics in this area.  The sidewalk strip is the area between the sidewalk and street.  For those who would like to pursue this change, we’d like to encourage folks to use drought tolerant landscaping and plants.

The CC HOA board has reviewed data provided by the Austin Transportation Dept (ATD) for the two radar speed units (formally called Dynamic Speed Display Unit or DSDD) installed in July on Boulder Lane. See this article for more information

Many Canyon Creek residents have expressed concerns over some noted traffic safety incidents in our community in recent weeks. The Canyon Creek HOA board would like to assure concerned residents that we have also noted speeding and other unsafe acts and we share those concerns.

Here is an update on last night’s (4/09/2018) CAMPO (Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization) meeting of the (TCB) Transportation Policy Board.

Guidance on Signage in Canyon Creek

The board would like to clarify our community's policy on signage. While we may have changed management companies, there have been no changes to our sign compliance regime. If a notice has been received in error, please contact the board or the management company to express your concern.

The Canyon Creek pool is temporarily closed due to an issue with the badge access system. The HOA board is working with Spectrum to correct this situation as soon as possible. We will post a notice when this issue has been resolved.

For those who have not yet heard, there will be a new shopping center built in our area called “Parke 27”. This shopping center will be located on the 27 acre tract of land that is on the west side of FM 620 extending from just north of the CVS at the 2222/620 intersection all the way up to Vista Parke Dr near the Home Depot.

The city of Austin’s Animal Services Department provided the following and attached information on how to respond to coyotes in the community.

The purpose of this letter is to serve as a Call for Candidates.  In accordance with the governing documents for Canyon Creek HOA, the Annual Meeting of the membership is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, 2018.  Please mark your calendars for this important meeting and plan to attend.

Many people in our neighborhood have pets that they love to take on walks in our community. This is good for both the pet and for the owner.  While getting fresh air outside, dogs love to defecate and urinate while on their walks. Owners should pick up after their animals to keep the surrounding areas clean and sanitary.
